DJ Call Me - Marry Me (Album Review)
Afrohouse love straight outa de ghetto, this stuff is pure roots!
Random samples, kicks & snares galore and simple but catchy riffs and riddems that won’t leave your brain alone for days. Straight talk from everyday township life reflected through music. These guys may not shine on the technical side but their tunes are banging with raw authenticity and flavor.
Before we continue though, check out the video of Mama I’m sorry to see what we mean (skip through intro):
The title title track Marry Me is another one of those tracks that won’t make 5FM but you know its going to be banging on public transport and in shabeens!
It reminds us much of albums like The Return of Bin Laden and hits like Sista Betina. On the cover they promote the track Loose My Mind ft. DJ Bazzy & DJ Tapasto as the album hit but it doesn’t quiet find its mark, although it might indeed make you loose for mind… ;)
Other than that we don’t have much more info on DJ Call other than the album was released by Sunshine Music and you can pick it up in Look & Listen for about 75 bucks or alternatively head on down to any music store that packs local stuff and you’ll find it for sure.
So in ending, keep an eye out for the man doing all the wrong things right and the album that may not win any SAMAs but it will put a smile on your face.
